NFPA 1410 Evolution 1

Good job to everyone on the 1410 drill last week. It was a huge improvement over the first time we ran that evolution. Through increased profficiency and teamwork we reduced our average time on Evolution 1 by over one minute and we were well below the NFPA recommended time of 3 minutes. Congratulations to Shift 1 for having the fastest time at 1:48 and Shift 3 for having the best average time.

The average times are as follows:
Shift 1- 2:30
Shift 2- 2:41
Shift 3- 2:19
Dept.- 2:30

Company Officers: Know Your People

Tips for being a strong, efficient & respected company officer
[1]

Published Monday, April 9, 2012 on www.firefighternation.com

Today’s company officer must be well-versed not only in firefighting tactics but also in management theory, supervision and leadership. All too often, however, an individual may transition from firefighter to fire officer overnight—one day the person is being led; the next day, they’re the leader. Complicating this situation, the individual often has little or no training in how to deal with various types of human behavior.

Beaufort Memorial Emergency Room

Beaufort Memorial Hospital has moved their Emergency Department entrance due to construction.  The new ED entrance is at the Cochrane Heart Center located to the right of the hospitals main entrance.  If you must go to the ED with an ambulance or for any reason use the main entrance at the traffic light.  The Cochrane Heart Center is on the right marked "EMERGENCY".  The ED has also been moved and is now on the second floor.

SHOW UP IN TURNOUT

Saturday, April 21, 2012 @ 9 a.m., Naval Heritage Park Support the 2012 March for Babies Ambassadors the Connelly Family

We are Ryan and Ashley Connelly. Native to Beaufort, Ryan was a firefighter with Lady’s Island Fire Department for 6 years. During that time, our beautiful daughters, Emilia and Olivia were born over 3 months premature and spent their first 91 days in the hospital. The support displayed by fire service members and research funded by the March of Dimes saved our girls’ lives. As the 2012 March of Dimes Ambassador Family for Beaufort County, we have made it our MISSION to show March of Dimes the UNITY of our hometown and the fire service brotherhood! WE NEED YOUR HELP! We are asking all firemen/women to come out and walk in FULL TURNOUT GEAR! We are also inviting all Beaufort County community members to walk alongside us! Follow the link below to pledge for babies.

Marchforbabies.org/FiremanSavingBabies

In South Carolina, 1 in 7 babies are born prematurely. YOU can make a difference today!
